Device Won’t Pair with Navigator Mobile

Bluetooth pairing triage: permissions, COMPASS Pro tab open, no competing phone session, OS ghosts, MDM constraints, and the 15-minute USB charge if the device is unresponsive.

Overview

Compass Series does not require a separate "pairing mode" on the device — it just needs to be powered on, near the phone, and visible to Navigator Mobile on the COMPASS Pro tab. Most pairing failures trace to permissions, a competing phone, MDM restrictions, or a device that needs charging — not defective hardware.

Checklist

  1. Bluetooth on; Navigator Mobile has OS Bluetooth and Nearby Devices permissions.
  2. Airplane mode off; toggle Bluetooth once if policy permits.
  3. Compass is powered on (hold MAIN). Confirm the heartbeat — even WHITE counts; you just need the device to be alive.
  4. Open Navigator Mobile and tap the COMPASS Pro tab so the orange pairing screen is visible.
  5. Hold the Compass within a few inches of the phone. Pairing usually completes within several seconds; the device shows sweeping green LEDs to confirm.
  6. Ensure no other phone is maintaining an active Bluetooth session with this Compass — only one phone can hold the connection at a time.
  7. Forget stale OS-level Bluetooth pairings if your support playbook allows; re-pair starting inside Navigator Mobile.
  8. Update Navigator Mobile; retry after rebooting the phone.
  9. Try a second phone to isolate phone-vs-device when permitted.
