Firmware Update Failed

Stop blind retries: capture versions, charge adequately, keep the app open, reduce RF noise, and escalate via the documented in-app recovery flow.

Overview

Firmware failures may be environmental (low battery, RF dropouts, app put in the background mid-update), version mismatch (wrong hardware revision), or app or OS interference. Use a disciplined retry policy.

First-line actions

  1. Record current and target firmware, model, hardware version (V4 or V5+), error text, and time.
  2. Charge both device and phone; retry once after restarting Navigator Mobile in a low-interference area.
  3. Keep the phone on with Navigator Mobile open for the entire update — backgrounding the app is the most common cause of update failure.
  4. Confirm the image and device targeting are correct for the hardware revision.
  5. If two careful attempts fail, follow Recover from a Failed Firmware Update for the documented in-app recovery flow.
