Overview

Low power and unreliable charging are common root causes of "won't connect" and "random shutdown" reports. Charge with the cable supplied with the device through a USB source delivering at least 5 V / 0.5 A. A full charge takes about 1.5 hours. Charge only between 0 °C and 45 °C.

Charging and power-on indicators

  • Solid red LED while charging.
  • Solid green LED when fully charged.
  • Press and hold the MAIN button to power on or off — same control on Compass Core, Compass Pro, and Compass Pro IS.
  • On power-up the device runs a sweeping green LED display showing battery state of charge (more LEDs lit = more charge).

Expected battery life

Compass Core and Compass Pro use a 3.7 V / 250 mAh Li-Po cell rated for about 6 days (48+ hrs) of typical use. Compass Pro IS uses a 3.7 V / 85 mAh Li-ion cell rated for about 2 days (16+ hrs). Battery life varies with the number of alerts the device generates.

Recommended sequence

  1. Inspect for physical damage. If compromised, remove from service per internal safety policy.
  2. Open the USB cover and connect the supplied cable. Confirm the solid red charging LED — if it does not appear, wait a minute, since a deeply depleted battery takes time before charging indication is visible.
  3. Wait for the solid green LED indicating a full charge.
  4. Press and hold the MAIN button to power on; confirm the sweeping green battery-status display.
  5. Watch the heartbeat settle in (every 2 seconds) before pairing or mounting.
