Self-Test, Errors, and Support

Compass runs a periodic self-test during operation. Recognize the fault indication, capture diagnostics, and escalate via RMA when needed.

Overview

Compass Series performs a periodic self-test routine during normal operation to verify its internal sensors. There is no separate user-triggered self-test path — the routine runs in the background while the device is on. If a fault is detected, the device reports it visually.

Fault indication

When a self-test fault is detected, the corner LEDs flash RED and YELLOW. A device in this state may not be trustworthy for safety monitoring until cleared or serviced.

What to do

  1. Ensure adequate charge; retry once after a controlled reboot if permitted.
  2. Pair to Navigator Mobile if it is safe to capture diagnostics — note the firmware version, hardware version, and any error wording the app shows.
  3. If the device persists in the RED + YELLOW fault state, label and remove from service per policy.
  4. Capture model, hardware version, firmware, phone OS, and Navigator Mobile version for the support ticket.

Escalation and RMA

If a Compass Series device persists in a RED + YELLOW fault state, file an RMA at SafeguardEquipment.com/return or call 208-773-9263 for assistance.
